So I was sitting at my local pub last week with my roommate and there was a big group of people next to me and they were drinking heavily and being pretty loud. Of course I get to talking to them and find out they're from Kyrgyzstan. Which is....somewhere I don't know. Things I now know about Kyrgyzstan:
1) They are very proud of World War 2.
2) They lost 950,000 soldiers in WW2 fighting for the Russians. (This turns out is not true. They lost roughly 70,000 soldier, but who's counting?)
3) They said people from Kyrgyzstan don't like Americans. As with this group, I would go so far to say they had a clear hatred of Americans. (They claimed to like me because I was "not a normal American." I pressed them on this but several admitted to not ever meeting another American in person before).
4) There is an enormous US Military Base in Kyrgyzstan (this is true).
5) There is an enormous Russian Military Base 5 miles away from the American base (they do have a base but it's a little father away).
6) They are spiritually Buddhists but follow in the muslim faith. (this was really strange but pretty cool if you think about it).
7) They drink a lot. (true)
