Photographer

No, didn't meet Nelson Mandela (that would be a lot better blog post). But I did meet the photographer who took this picture. Dylan Martinez is the chief photographer for Reuters in the UK. As we technically work for the same company - although the news team seems miles away from what I do - he was nice enough to show me around a bit and we had a nice conversation. He gave me some excellent advice on a photo project I'm planning on and about the photography profession as a whole. He kept repeating: "there's no shortcuts to this." Meaning, you can't expect to take a single picture and then be gainfully employed. There's no silver bullet. You have to start from the ground and work your way up. So, it appears the photography world is like every other industry, sad to say. Either way, very enlightening conversation and a lot of fun.
