If you want a terrible international flight fly with American Airlines. Two nights ago I flew home from Boston on what I thought was a British Airways flight (on a 747). Instead, they outsourced the route to American Airlines. AA doesn't use large planes for US to London. They instead use a Boeing 757. The plane was created in the early 80s. They're no longer in production. The plane was built for short to medium routes and is used primarily as a domestic carrier. This is not a plane that should be used for international flights! I mean not having your own TV these days for a long flight makes passing time harder, but more importantly, the plane is cramped. Really cramped. I have no problem with flying on a crap plane if that's what you paid for - but the price is exactly the same for a BA/747 flight an hour later, and mine. I just picked mine thinking it would be good to get in an hour early (and I missed the fine print with "operated by AA"). I think I got spoiled flying New Zealand and Quantas - and a proper BA flight for that matter. US carries really lag behind these guys.
I guess the good news is now I know. Hurray for knowing!
