Novel Writing in November

So, I think it's time to dust off the ol' typewriter, start chain-smoking and drinking gin, develop a love for big game hunting in Africa and jet off the Cuba to start my book idea. Or, probably just awkwardly write in my flat for an hour after work. I've been working on my idea and my dad and friends have helped quite a bit in helping me build a story that doesn't suck. Now, it's my turn to ruin it with my writing =)

 So...National Novel Writing Month is coming up. It's from Nov 1st to the 30th. The contest is to write 50,000 words in that 30 day period. If you finish in time, submit your work to the judges and you win some small set of prizes. It's not really about "winning" as much as it is about motivating yourself to just write. 200 pages in a month is a lot for an employed person who will be traveling for 10 days of that month. BUT, I'll give it my best. With that much writing in short period of time, my OCD nature of self-editing after everything I write will need to be tempered. You just gotta write and write and write and edit in December.
