My friend Thomas sold me his old Tripod (well, OK I still owe him half the money, shhhh) and the thing is a beast. I think I have like 4 old tripods in Boston. They're light as aluminum, made with tons of cheap plastic parts and break pretty easily. Also, if it's windy out or if you have a heavy camera and you gently nudge one of the legs, the whole thing wobble.
So, enter: Manfrotto. The Italian company makes some of the best professional photography and video tripods & equipment on the market. Seriously, these things are bad ass. Tomorrow will be its maiden voyage - Amsterdam and Berlin. This is the "head" of the thing below. Of course, to bring it or not to bring the thing is a classic catch-22. If I don't bring the tripod, I'm definitely going to be walking by a canal in Amsterdam or sunset over the Brandenburg Bridge and curse myself for not just biting the bullet and bringing it. But, now that I've decided to lug the thing to two cities, I guarantee I probably won't use it once.
